On my desk : Belinda Jacobson

The tech-savvy fashionista

My working day tends to be hectic at the best of times. I have a demanding full time job as a Principal Planning Advisor for a Health Service. I try to get to the gym or exercise once a day (to keep my sanity) and I try to post 3 – 4 articles a week on Parties, Pearls and Being Precious. Aside from my busy work schedule I have four pets that I absolutely adore and I love spending time with – so I always make time for them even if it means sacrificing something else!

Because I’m so busy all the time I really couldn’t get by without my devices…. and by that I mean my phone and my laptop. I use the calendar function on my iPhone to plan my life and I also have apps for all my social media that I can tap into as I need to. I read emails, blog posts, schedule my to-do list, book my personal appointments, shop online, sell items on eBay, track my eating and weight loss – the list goes on! The phone and laptop also sync automatically – which means I always have up to date information on my schedule when I need it.

The best thing about it is that it literally fits in my pocket and I can take it anywhere (my phone that is) but the worst thing is when is breaks down I feel completely lost! My iPhone recently malfunctioned and I felt so lost – luckily I use the laptop in conjunction with the phone and also do backups because when Apple replaced the phone all it took was a few clicks to be back up and running again!

Belinda JacobsonBelinda is the blogger behind Parties, Pearls and Being Precious in Brisbane, Australia. Parties, Pearls and Being Precious is a resource for strong, independent and fabulous women.  Belinda writes articles and curates content about gender equality and female empowerment, and how women can look and feel their best through fashion, style and beauty.

In her day job, Belinda is a successful Strategic Health Service Planner and is all too familiar with the challenges women face on a daily basis when trying to develop a personal brand and a career that will be satisfying and go the distance. She’s a big believer in building a strong personal brand and image – putting your best foot forward everyday which includes dressing well, knowing yourself and believing in your abilities.

These are the challenges that Belinda hopes to address on Parties, Pearls and Being Precious.  Belinda believes that it is important to embrace our female qualities and develop our self-confidence.

“Women are equal to their male counterparts in both our professional and personal lives and we also happen to LOVE style, fashion and beauty – and that’s ok!

The days of burning bras and shunning personal hygiene and presentation in the name of feminism are long gone – unless that’s what floats your boat, in which case you go right ahead and do that to your hearts content! I want you to feel empowered to achieve your goals.  Whether that’s an executive position, being a mum or owning your own business – all of us, as women face, common issues.”
