Love’s money pot
My days tends to be spent in front of my Mac working on latest client projects, combined with time in meetings or catching up with some amazing creative people to discuss ideas for projects. I also love taking time out each week to work on my own personal projects, be it screenprinting, sewing or tinkering with some metalwork. It gets me away from the screen and I am sure helps me be more creative with client projects.
So I can’t get by without my daily and monthly planner sheets. Without these I just can’t focus – there is space to write my top-three for the day, a list of other important things I need to do but not critical for that day, along side space to write what I’m going to make for dinner – being a foodie it can easily monopolise my thoughts for the day if I let it! – and an area for me to note my discoveries of the day: fonts / colours / websites / blogs. It sounds terribly dull, but I’m easily distracted – usually by the cat or two or three snoozing on the cushion at the side of my desk!
When I first started dating my now husband and I worked in the same office and he gave me a ‘money plant’ – a cutting from one handed down to him by his grandfather. I always had it on my desk wherever I’ve worked and occasionally it gets to big so another cutting is taken. I think this might be the great granddaughter of the one he gave me 13 years ago.
I wouldn’t give this up for anything. It think of him every time I look at it and it reminds me why I’m working so hard.
