On my desk : Dr Jenine Beekhuyzen

I’m a tech girl at heart

Jenine's Trusty MateMy working day tends to be varied depending on the week. One day I’ll be getting on a plane in my power red dress, the next I’ll be working in my pyjamas from home with my cat … the next I’m teaching in a classroom. I love that every day is different. So I can’t get by without my laptop.

It is my portable office that keeps track of where I need to be, who I need to talk to, what my deadlines are, and it goes wherever I go … because it organises me – I’d be lost without it!

The best thing about my laptop is that it allows me to communicate virtually across the world. It essentially contains my entire working life and gives me access to everything I need, everyone I need, and it gives me piece of mind wherever I am because I always have my work, my music, my movies, my recipes, and more at my fingertips! It even thinks for me sometimes, reminding me of deadlines across my different work roles that I could not keep track of otherwise.

I wouldn’t give it up for anything! As much as it drives me mad sometimes (I currently cannot get MS Word to work!) I could not live without it. I love the portability and the ease of use (I’m a Mac!). To be honest, it scares me a little how much of an extension of myself it is! But that’s the world we know live in 🙂 I’m a proud tech girl entrepreneur!
